About The Designer
I started cross stitching early; probably somewhere in my early teenage years (or maybe even before that?), so cross stitching has been part of my life for over 40 years.
I started designing patterns for myself in my 20s, and stitched them for my own enjoyment and to decorate my home. In 2004, I decided to create Happiness Is HeartMade, and began selling some of my designs online, through my own website.
In early 2006, I started selling to Local Needlework Shops through a major distributor, but only for a couple years.
Then, after several years of life getting too busy for cross stitch designing, and allowing the Happiness Is HeartMade website to just sit and sell my existing designs, I decided to begin actively designing counted cross stitch patterns again… and I am so glad I did! It is such a joy to design patterns, and also to get to know so many wonderful people through cross stitch.
Happiness Is HeartMade has grown into a large assortment of patterns, and continues to grow as new patterns are designed and sold online and through Local Needlework Shops. I hope you enjoy browsing through our designs, and find something that you would like to stitch. Keep checking back, as new designs are released regularly!

Happiness Is HeartMade was founded in 2004 by designer Christy Shuhy Ortiz. Patterns are sold online directly through Happiness Is HeartMade, and at Local Needlework Shops around the United States, and internationally.
Happiness Is HeartMade designs a wide variety of cross stitch patterns, that include vintage inspired designs, Christmas and seasonal patterns, Bible verse patterns ( KJV ), Alphabet Samplers, birds, animals, Celtic Knotwork designs, the Cat Tales Collection, and many other themes. Happiness Is HeartMade patterns can be purchased on this website, but if you prefer printed leaflets, they can be purchased at most Local Needlework Shops. If your shop does not carry the patterns you want, they can order them wholesale through ICG Crafts, Wichelt Imports, and Hoffman Distributing.
Happiness Is HeartMade is based in Culpeper, VA; a small town between Richmond, VA, and Washington, D.C.
